My Faith + Coronavirus

The Coronavirus sickness (because that’s what it is)  has hit our world and has created a storm in most of our lives beyond our imagination. None of us imagined our lives would be changed so quickly and that the entire world would come to a place of pause. What I have learned about life and going through storms is that the sun will ALWAYS come out at the end. As quickly as a storm hits, quickly the sun comes out soon thereafter and it’s over. You pick up the pieces, rebuild, and you then continue to move forward. I’ve had to keep one thing in mind,  my response during these difficult times determines just how far I will be able to go after this.

Some of the challenges I’ve faced in life have prepared me for this moment. I’ve experienced uncertain times and difficult moments (more often than I would have liked to), but I overcame them.  As a result of what is going on around us, my Job (I worked as a Substitute Teacher) has ended for the remainder of the year, and my small business is somewhat “nonoperational” (I’m a makeup artist). Like many of you, I’m without income. The good news is that my husband is considered an “Essential Worker”, even though he is still working, his income has changed. So he’s having to adjust to this new normal that we’re currently experiencing and we are NEWLY WEDS! The both of us have experienced times like this before, so this season in our life is called “More Faith”. What does that even mean? I’m going to need to do more in this season than seasons before. The magnitude of this season requires more from me than before.

Everything that is happening around us is a test of our faith. God is watching to see exactly how we’re going to respond in the midst of this storm (struggle, trial, hardship, turbulence etc.). Are we going to succumb to fear, worry, & doubt? Or, are we going to TRUST Him?  As a believer, I’m having to remember everything I’ve read, heard, and what I’ve been taught. Now is the time to apply it to the areas of my life where needed. I’m having to remember the tough seasons before and remember how God carried me through those times. When I was unsure about my income in the past, God made provision. I never went hungry, my bills were paid, and I never went without. Everything around me, even though things were uncertain, worked so smoothly. In the past, when I may have been sick and afraid, God provided healing necessary for me to keep pushing forward. We have to remember that even in the midst of Coronavirus, God is Faithful! He’s still making provision and He’s still able to Heal the Sick! We have to believe that and we have to TRUST that!

Before ending this blog post I wanted to share some scriptures that I’m holding close to my heart daily during this time:

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

But my God shall supply all your needs according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby” John 11:4

“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5

“Who His own self bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed.” 1 Peter 2:24

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind 2 Timothy 1:7

“Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?  Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?  Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

“So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin;  and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.  Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

“Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:25-34

ALL OF PSALM 91!!

I believe it’s safe to say the current season everyone is experiencing at the same time is a test of our faith. I also believe we can overcome this season if we remain focused on God. This season, although a difficult one, can be a season that we overcome together. I encourage you to stay strong and stand firm in your faith during this time and you will come out on top of this.
